Hardware required: IBM or compatible PC running Windows 95/98/2000/XP/Windows 7/Windows 10/Windows11 (may require additional .dll and/or .ocx files. Microsoft has a utility on their website that installs the required extra files for programs compiled under VB6 for Win 8.1 and Win 10/Win11)
One spare serial port not occupied by a mouse, modem or other device, or a suitable recent USB/serial converter and a B500/B600/B800 load cable (all are the same) supplied with instrument. These have a red band at the RJ connector end and a D9 on the other.
B600/B800 PC Support
Before attempting to run B600/B800 support files the files in this zip file must be installed.
The program B500Install.zip is a zip archive containing all support files to install the latest versions of the programs on your computer and into the B600/B800 instrument.
Download B500Install.zip to a temporary folder
Extract all the files from B500Install.zip.
Double-click on program setup.exe to install all the current programs.
These will default to install in C:\Program files\B500 but you can install to another folder if you choose.
B600/B800
B600/B800 operating software can be upgraded/reloaded/customised using these files.
The definitive B600/B800 software and PC support files are in this zip file. Several minor bug fixes have been incorporated and we consider the instrument does everything required of a cross country and competition instrument.

B600/B800 data communications for external programs on PNA/PDA/Tablet devices (Oudie, SeeYou mobile, XCSoar, TopHat etc)
This file contains the interface specification and a B600/B800 simulator for Windows PCs along with a readme file. The B600/B800 system unit is capable of two way communication with these devices and the external device can control the B600/B800 MacCready, bugs and ballast settings of the B600/B800 if the external software has this feature enabled.
